Sean Penn: I'm not a rebel

Friday, December 05, 2008, 09:19

Despite pushing Hollywood boundaries with some groundbreaking movies and outspoken opinions, Sean Penn doesn't think he's a rebel at all.

"I would say that I don't think I ever rebelled against anything," he tells Parade.com.

"I was always a little embarrassed by rebellion. It felt like you let someone else tell you how to behave against them. Rebellion? No. I think I rebelled against rebellion, if anything."

However, Sean, who stars in critically acclaimed new film Milk about San Francisco gay activist Harvey Milk, says he is passionate about movie making.

"I think I'd have a relative death without creating something," he admits.

"It's a hunger from deep inside that propels a will. You can apply it to anything in the world. Good movie or bad movie, I don't care. I just want you to feel that the person who made it cared."
