While West End star Connie Fisher (pictured) is coming home to Wales to celebrate Christmas with her mum and nan, fans will be able to see her playing the lead in a festive television drama.
Since winning television show how Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Connie's career has snowballed — and now she is swapping her role of singing nun for Elvis-obsessed thief.
"It's really exciting," said the 25-year-old.
"The technique of musical theatre is much bigger than TV acting. Every little flick of the eye is picked up on screen, so it took a lot of adaptation."
In the ITV drama — Caught in a Trap — Connie plays Gemma Perkins, a 28-year-old parking attendant, who has lived at home with her dad and overbearing stepmum, since her mum's death.
Unable to open up to her father, played by Jim Carter, and oblivious to the affections of the boy next door (Joe Absolom) Gemma loses herself in her secret passion — the King himself, Elvis Presley. She realises she can fund her obsession by dipping into the parking meter takings, and her life starts to spiral out of control.
"Gemma is a bit of a social outcast," said Connie.
"She doesn't have friends and she lost her mum when she was very young. She finds comfort in Elvis's lyrics.
While the Elvis music mainly plays as a soundtrack to Gemma's life, Connie does have to sing one Elvis song — at Gemma's office Christmas party. She said: "I am an Elvis fan, mainly at karaoke on a Saturday night, but I didn't appreciate how moving the lyrics were."
In February, Connie is due to release her second album — From Connie With Love — and she's hoping Hollywood will sit up and listen.
"I'd love to play Eliza Dolittle in a musical film of My Fair Lady," she said.
But before that comes Connie's Christmas in Wales.
She said: "It will be a feminine Christmas," she said.
"I do try to help out in the kitchen, but I'm more of a hindrance really.
"I'm the present wrapper and the present opener and the entertainment for the day."
